School Board Meeting

All BPA students and parents are invited to attend the School Board meeting on April 28, 2008 at 6 pm. At the Administration office.



I expect all BPA students to be there. Please wear your dress slacks, red polo shirts, and dress shoes. Look professional. Be proud to belong to BPA. You will be introduced to the school board and all attendees.



On this day I would like to get a group picture as I don't have one of the entire group as of yet.

On March 14, 2008 a memo was sent to Mrs. Halberstadt for All PHS Business Professionals of America.

He was invited to join us in Indianapolis on March 18. He regrets that he could not join us. He apologizes as he had to be a presenter at another conference on that day.

Come to Room 333 and see the letter it is hung on the door of the office behind 333.

Scratch off Cards

Pennies to Dollars cards will be at PHS by Thursday of this week. Pick up your card. When you want to turn in money - please turn it in to me. When card is fully scratched off - you have earned $90.00 for state. The $15.00 left over will be sent back to Oldfashioned candy. I have 30 days to pay this off. So $300 is due to them 30 days from when I recieve the cards. I think this a great way to raise money - so if you want to make more then 90.00 sell more than 1 card. The money you make is yours !!

Student Council needs our help!!!

On February 25, 2008 - All Access Productions a performing arts group from New York will be at PHS. The cast needs homes to stay at overnight on Feb. 25.

Please see me - Mrs. Halberstadt, or Mrs. Lochmondy by February 8, 2008 for form and information.

BPA State Contest Fees

Hello to all BPA state kids and parents.

I have given each of the students what they owe to go to state. This money is due by Thursday January 31, 2008

Also the BPA Polo shirt money is also due. That is $15.00 per child.

If you do not know what your child owes, as they have not told you, please e-mail me at rhalberstadt@portage.k12.in.us and I will email you back with the amount.

If you (parent) would like a BPA polo shirt $15.00 or a BPA State T-Shirt $6.00 Please contact me with your name and shirt size. The Polo shirts are available now, and the T-shirt will arrive to you when we return in March.

Fundraiser money update

As of Today - we have made about 500.00 from our 2 fundraisers.

Thank you to the students who sold at least $60.00 of wood roses.
Thank you to the students who sold at least 10 tickets for the dinner.

Those students who make it to state this weekend, will benifit a little from the fundraiser efforts.

Also thank you to the parents who helped me last Friday, and to all the PHS Business teachers that helped out at the dinner.

Good luck to the students that are going to BPA District 1 Contest. Results will be posted here next week.

Saturday - Jan 19, 2008

Time table.
Students and chaperones must be to the front of Portage High School East at 7:15 am.

We will return by 4 pm to the same location

Family come to Chesterton High School Door 31 - for the awards ceremony at 1:45

Students will wear - black dress pants, or black skirt ONLY
Red BPA Shirt that they will get on Friday or Sat.

Black dress shoes. NO TENNIS SHOES

Bring money for lunch.

The cost is $15.00 - cash or check. Check payable to Portage High School.

Spaghetti Dinner Help needed

All parents are students are needed at PHS on Friday Jan. 11, 2008 for the Spaghetti dinner.

Parents only are allowed in the kitchen. Kids will work the ticket table and help in the dining room.

District Contest - Sat. Jan. 19 2008

Hello everyone - Parents included.
Please have your child at Portage High School by 7:15 am Sat. Jan. 19, 2008 We are heading to Chesterton High School for BPA District Contest.

We will be having lunch at a restaurant in Chesterton - Please make sure you child has money for this.

At 2 pm you are all invited to the CHS - Auditorium - Door 31 - for the awards ceremony. Please come and cheer on your son or daughter and the rest of the PHS team.
